stipulations of the Treaty, however, refer to the ques-
tion of Trademarks which would appear to be governed by
the adhesion of Japan to the International Convention
for the Protection of Industrial Property and by the
Japanese Trademarks law of 1909.
Sir E. Grey therefore proposes, with the concur-
rence of the Board of Trade, to instruct His Majesty's
Ambassador at Tokyo to enquire of the Japanese Govern-
ment why the Japanese Patents Bureau have adopted this
attitude in the matter.
